Who We Are
MacTavish has been on St. George Street for decades. Generations of families have filled their prescriptions here, and that isn't something you inherit lightly. Our job is to carry this forward, which means keeping pace with how a pharmacy needs to best serve it’s customers.
We've worked hard to add things that makes life easier: refills from your phone, blister packs built around your schedule, and services like minor ailment assessments and vaccinations without the wait.
The part that hasn't changed is the reason people have come here for decades.
We know our patients. Not their file numbers. Who's caring for a parent, who's just had a baby, who wants the whole thing explained twice before they leave.
We work with your other providers. Your doctor, your nurse practitioner, the clinic down the road. Better care happens when everyone's talking.
We have a full team behind us. Pharmacists and technicians who've been doing this a long time, some of them right here.
Vanessa & Caitlyn
We're Vanessa Cowan and Caitlyn King, the pharmacists behind the counter at MacTavish. We’re both from Chatham-Kent, and because of that, we knew what this place meant to it’s customers before we ever owned it.
We invite you to stop by MacTavish for your pharmacy needs and to stroll through the shop - and be sure to come say ‘hello’, we’d love to get to know you.

More About Vanessa
Vanessa grew up in Chatham-Kent. She did her Biology degree at Western and her pharmacy degree at the University of Toronto, then came back to the area to practise.
Women's health is where her heart is: new moms navigating breastfeeding, infant worries at 2am, menopause, and breast cancer. As a breast cancer survivor herself, when Vanessa says she understands, she truly means it.
She's married with two kids, which makes her a dance mom and a hockey mom in the same week. Her favourite thing is a family vacation, and she'll take a book, a trail or a jet ski whenever she can get one.
More About Caitlyn
Caitlyn is born and raised in Chatham-Kent too. She's wanted to be a pharmacist since junior kindergarten, and her first time behind a counter was job shadowing MacTavish's own Phoebe for a grade 10 careers class. She did her Biology and pharmacy degrees at the University of Waterloo, where Vanessa happened to be her co-op supervisor.
Her passion is the part of the store people usually navigate alone: over-the-counter care. Allergy, cough and cold, wound care and quitting smoking.
Outside the pharmacy she's usually in Detroit at a concert or a Tigers, Red Wings or Lions game. A competitive gymnast growing up, she now plays volleyball and golf recreationally.
